What is Digital Transformation?

Digital transformation is not just about adopting new technologies—it is a comprehensive process that reshapes the way businesses operate. By utilizing digital solutions, companies streamline and optimize business processes, enhance customer experience, reduce costs, and open new revenue streams. At the same time, digital transformation involves deep organizational changes, adjustments to business models, and the development of a digital culture within the company.

Why is digital transformation beneficial for companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina?

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) leverage digital technologies to transform their business models, processes, and operations, ensuring competitiveness in a dynamic market environment. The innovations brought by digitalization enable them to discover new ways of creating value, improve efficiency, and gain a stronger market position against competitors.

How to improve the digital transformation process in companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina?

Digital transformation consists of two key components: the people who drive it and the elements that shape it.

Leadership in Digital Transformation
Executives play a crucial role in leading digital transformation, and their decisions and strategic directions are key to the success of this process.

Elements of Digital Transformation
Transformation occurs through strategic investments in technology, human capital, operations, products, and services, laying the foundation for sustainable growth and innovation.

To support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in this journey, we focus on:

  • Raising awareness and strengthening the capacities of managers and employees to lead and implement digital transformation.
  • Developing an ecosystem that provides support to businesses during digital transition.
  • Enabling access to small innovation funds, encouraging greater internal investments in the digital future of enterprises.

By doing so, we are building the foundation for a sustainable and competitive economy in the digital age.

Who are the beneficiaries of the project interventions?

Each of these groups receives tailored support that meets their specific needs, empowering them for sustainable growth and market competitiveness.

What will be done for each type of beneficiary?

To achieve its objectives, the project has established strong partnerships with organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the wider region, and the EU. This collaboration combines local insights and international expertise, guiding SMEs toward digital and green solutions.

At a strategic level, the project collaborates closely with the OECD to strengthen the capacities of key stakeholders for long-term planning of regenerative economic growth. The focus is on strengthening sectoral coordination committees (SCCs) and working groups related to the Small Business Act for Europe (SBA).

The project actively contributes to public-private dialogue, involving private sector representatives in policy creation. It also aligns with broader economic development initiatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina, ensuring synergy between different stakeholders and the long-term sustainability of results. Through this holistic support, the project lays the groundwork for a more innovative, resilient, and competitive private sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
