For Payment Card Acquirers and POS Solution Providers
The project “Digital Payments for Sustainable Development in the Western Balkans – Better Way 2.0” invites interested payment card acquirers and providers of POS devices and software solutions to express their interest in participating in an initiative aimed at expanding the cashless payment acceptance network among micro and small merchants in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

About the Program
The POS Program is a partnership-based initiative to be implemented during 2027–2029, with the objective of equipping up to 7,500 small merchant points of sale that have not previously accepted cashless payments.
The program targets small merchants who have not used cards or other cashless payment methods in the past 12 months.
What does the Program Offers
The program is jointly financed by Mastercard, Visa, banks, and solution providers, and includes:
- free installation and use of POS terminals or eCommerce solutions for up to 12 months
- reduced merchant service fees for Mastercard and Visa transactions
Broader Context
The POS Program is part of the “Better Way 2.0” initiative, launched by GIZ, Mastercard, and Visa, in cooperation with SERDA, PKRS, and NALED, building on experience from similar programs implemented in the region.
The initiative aims to:
- advance the digitalization of the economy
- strengthen financial inclusion and education
- improve the business environment
- reduce the grey economy
- promote modern payment solutions
