The digital transition is increasingly shaping the way we live and work—from industry and manufacturing to services, transport, and tourism. This is precisely why it is essential for young people in secondary vocational education to develop digital skills that are now indispensable in the labour market and increasingly demanded by the economy.
Through GIZ’s SEDEP programme, digital competencies in education are being strengthened, while companies from various sectors—such as plastics manufacturing, the automotive and mechanical engineering industries, and hospitality and tourism—demonstrate what the digital transition looks like in practice. Through practical training, students have the opportunity to work with modern machinery, become familiar with digital diagnostics in vehicle maintenance, use software solutions in business processes, and learn how to apply technology in real working environments.
Examples from companies confirm that the digital transition involves the use of new technologies, including automation and robotics, and that employees and future workers must keep pace with digital developments in order to remain competitive. As different industries increasingly require universal digital competencies, their integration into the education system becomes essential.
The SEDEP programme supports the development of cross-curricular digital competencies with the aim of empowering young people for the jobs of the future and contributing to the strengthening of the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
