Organized by the Ministry of Education, Youth, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde, a training for mentors working with students during Practical Training at business entities began today at the premises of the Public Institution Secondary Vocational School “Džemal Bijedić” in Goražde.
The mentor training for Practical Training in BPK is being organized with the support of the project “Sustainable Economic Development and Promotion of Employment” (SEDEP), implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and co-financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the European Union (EU), and the Government of Switzerland (SDC).
As emphasized on this occasion, the goal is to create a broader base of mentors for working with students in the economy, to equip mentors with pedagogical and didactic competencies, and to generally improve the quality of Practical Training. The training is conducted according to a publicly approved curriculum adopted by the relevant Ministry and lasts a total of 40 hours. Certified master trainers from the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde are delivering the training.
The Minister of Education, Youth, Science, Culture, and Sports, Adisa Alikadić-Herić, welcomed all participants who expressed their willingness to engage in this segment of the educational process. As she stated, through this activity, students will be given the opportunity to one day become part of companies where the present mentors will play a key role in their practical training and professional guidance.
“I am especially pleased that we are one of the first cantons to have previously conducted mentor training, and we are continuously carrying out these activities. Our experiences often serve as an example to other cantons, which makes us proud and further motivates us to continue down this path,” added Minister Alikadić-Herić.
During the training, efforts are made to empower mentors by enhancing their competencies for effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of practical training, as well as strengthening the cooperation between schools and the business sector. The training program is based on modern teaching and mentoring methods, featuring an interactive approach and experience-sharing among participants.
This activity represents an important step in strengthening the capacity of secondary vocational education in BPK Goražde, with a focus on improving the quality of practical training and aligning the education system with the needs of the labor market.
