SVET provides key support to educational institutions, enterprises and organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina to improve vocational education and training

The goal of the SVET project is to further improve secondary vocational education in BiH through cooperation with various stakeholders, such as educational institutions, chambers of commerce, and business entities. This plan includes the modernization of the curriculum, strengthening cooperation with industries, training of mentors and teaching staff, as well as the promotion of dual education, which will ultimately lead to easier employment of young people and their greater competitiveness in the labor market.

Development and Modernization of Curricula

One of the key aspects of SVET’s strategy for improving vocational education in BiH is the development and modernization of curricula in vocational schools and educational institutions. It will focus on the integration of new technologies, as well as on the introduction of green technologies and innovations in the curriculum. By developing a curriculum that responds to the needs of the labor market, educational institutions will ensure that students acquire relevant skills that are in demand in the industry. The programmes will include digital skills and innovations to prepare students for the challenges of the modern economy.

Strengthening Cooperation between Educational Institutions and Industries

SVET promotes and supports greater cooperation between educational institutions and enterprises. This collaboration enables students to gain practical experience and develop skills that are key to competitiveness in the labour market. Companies will be able to influence the content of educational programs and provide students with real work assignments, thus ensuring that the acquired knowledge and skills are directly applicable in the work environment.

Training of Mentors and Teaching Staff

One of the key challenges for the successful implementation of vocational education is the training of mentors who work with students in real working conditions. SVET continuously trains mentors in order to teach them to efficiently transfer knowledge, motivate students and help them develop. Mentor training includes pedagogical skills, giving feedback and problem solving, thus improving the quality of practical teaching. In addition to mentors, SVET also supports the training of teaching staff in vocational schools so that teachers have current knowledge of new industrial trends and educational methods.

Promotion of Dual Education

SVET continues to support the implementation of dual education, which integrates theoretical classes with practical work in enterprises. Students will spend part of their time in the educational institution and part in the company, which will create the opportunity to improve specific craft and technical skills. SVET will work to harmonize legislative frameworks and provide technical assistance to effectively implement this educational model in BiH.

Project Beneficiaries and More Specific Activities

The beneficiaries of this project are educational institutions, chambers of commerce and business entities. SVET supports educational institutions by advising on legal provisions related to education, training of teaching staff and modernization of schools. Chambers of Commerce will be provided with grants to help them improve their educational programs and strengthen their role in education. Business entities will be trained to work with mentors, which will improve the quality of practical classes.

Support to Chambers of Commerce

Through grants, SVET helps Chambers of Commerce to improve their work in the field of education and training. The grants will enable the strengthening of the capacities of chambers of commerce to organize trainings that are in accordance with the needs of the labor market. Also, this will create conditions for the development of specific projects aimed at improving competitiveness and employability in BiH.

Expected Results

Through the implementation of this project, several key results are expected:

For educational institutions: improving the quality of education through counselling, training of teaching staff, modernization of curricula, and equipping of schools.
For chambers of commerce: strengthening the capacity to organize educational and training programs tailored to the needs of the labour market, which will contribute to greater competitiveness.
For business entities: better trained mentors, who will provide students with quality training and increase the competitiveness of the sector.
