Berlin, May 2025 – Startups and entrepreneurship support organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina made a remarkable and impactful appearance at GITEX Europe, one of the leading European conferences focused on technology, innovation, and investment, held from May 21 to 23 in Berlin.
For the first time, Bosnia and Herzegovina had its own national pavilion at this prestigious event, thanks to an initiative implemented through GIZ’s SEDEP program, in partnership with the Ecosystem Connectors project. The SEDEP program, co-financed by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ), the European Union, and the Government of Switzerland, aims to enhance employability and strengthen the private sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina through digital and green transformation.
Five innovative startups—Valens, ZenDev, E387, Sarajevo VRX Immersive Museum, and Emaq—along with five key organizations actively working to develop the startup ecosystem—Elevate, Foundation 787, IMPAKT Foundation, Sarajevo School of Science and Technology, and FabLab Sarajevo—were showcased at the Bosnia and Herzegovina pavilion.
The program in Berlin began with intensive workshops on pitch preparation and investor readiness, followed by targeted networking events and visits to prominent Berlin startup hubs. Participants had valuable opportunities to connect with international investors, ecosystem players, and potential partners from across Europe.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina pavilion, coordinated by Bit Alliance in collaboration with strategic partners from the local tech and innovation community, attracted particular attention. It served as a platform for promoting ideas and building business connections, offering startups the chance to pitch live and establish meaningful contacts.
In addition to the main appearance at GITEX, the BiH delegation took part in a series of curated side events, including Investor Talks at CIC Berlin, interactive sessions and networking at MotionLab, and evening meetups designed to foster collaboration and increase visibility for emerging tech ventures.
This visit marks a significant milestone for the startup community in Bosnia and Herzegovina—not only as an opportunity for international networking but also as proof that local innovation and entrepreneurship have the potential to take a prominent place on the European tech map. The initiative further contributes to building a positive image of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a country with an increasingly dynamic and ambitious technology sector.
