The Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism and GIZ, with financial support from the European Union and the German Government, have launched a new phase of tourism enhancement through digitalization and sustainable practices in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Cooperation Agreement, signed by Federal Minister Nasiha Pozder on behalf of the Ministry and Jens Elsner, SEDEP Program Manager, on behalf of GIZ, marks an important step toward modernizing the tourism sector and preparing it for the green and digital transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This cooperation is being implemented within the project \u201cEU for Private Sector Development in BiH<\/strong>\u201d (EU4PSD), co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and is part of a broader German Government program supporting sustainable economic development and employment in BiH (SEDEP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project aims to enable more efficient management of tourism data by digitalizing the guest registration system, significantly improving data availability for all relevant institutions. This opens new possibilities for better planning, development, and promotion of tourism \u2014 including the adaptation of the Ministry’s action plan with a focus on digital and green transition, as well as the development of a promotion plan for the Federation of BiH aligned with the national promotion strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to digitalization, the project places a strong emphasis on sustainability through the introduction of green certification for tourism operators and accommodation facilities. This will enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of the tourism sector in the Federation of BiH in line with European standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project represents a significant step toward the modernization and strengthening of the tourism offer in the Federation of BiH, creating new opportunities for local businesses, increasing destination attractiveness, and fostering regional cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project will run for 36 months and is part of broader EU and German Government support for economic development, employment, and sustainable tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
